Genealogy of the Mees family on USB stick

On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Mees Foundation a USB memory stick was produced with the illustrated genealogy of the Mees family.

Starting point is the present generation of all currently living members of our family. All previous generations up to our family forefather Joris are represented. Our family is divided into two main branches – Groningen and Rotterdam – each of which is divided into four sub branches, all starting at the 8th generation, as shown on the main schematic on the root page.

By selecting a sub branch forefather a schematic will open on which you will find all Meeses from that sub branch who are currently alive as well as their forefathers until the forefather of that sub branch. People in each sub branch can be selected and a personal page will open with that person’s immediate family: spouse, parents and children. All children with their own personal page can be clicked on. The name of the father is also linked to his personal page with immediate family. Through these links the entire genealogy can be navigated by moving up or down the generations. At the bottom of each personal page is also a link back to the schematic of that sub branch or to the root page.

Who is the USB stick intended for?

This memory stick contains confidential information like dates of births, deaths, and weddings as well as other personal information and photographs. Because of this confidentiality this stick is only available to descendents of family forefather Joris Mees, who fled from Aachen, Germany in 1596. People requesting the stick must also be known to the Mees Foundation.

You can order the stick by clicking here. An email window will open up. Please enter your name and address to which you want the stick mailed. We request a minimum contribution of € 10 to cover the cost of the stick, to be transferred to bank account number 25.50.50.593 of the Foundation. We also request that you treat the information on this stick as confidential within the family.

How to use the stick

Insert the stick into an available USB port on your computer. Usually a screen will open asking which action to perform. Select ‘Open folder to view files’ towards the bottom of the list. A window will open with the contents of the stick. Double click the file called index-eng.htm, which will open in your internet browser, and contains some additional instructions and a link to the main schematic on the root page. Please note that at this moment all text on personal pages is in Dutch!
